Your Routine is Building Your Potential
Over the past year, I’ve proudly identified that being intentional in everything you do goes a very long way. A few of these are being mindful with my habits, what I consume, not just food, what I expose myself be it social media, books that I read, and music that I listen to. You can call it building a routine first thing in the morning like a meditation, no phone in the first hour of my day, so and so.
In a world where doing more or having more is better and can lead to more success, fast delivery and being slow and intentional with what you do is the opposite. But honestly, underconsuming in certain areas that I know I can, living a minimalist lifestyle, being mindful with my expenditures, keeping a budget, and being within my budget (which is also a different thing) led me to experience a different version of my life, of me.
Of course, this didn’t happen overnight. It took a lot of time, and to be honest, I am still working on improving and guiding myself to have a better experience of life day by day. I started with simplifying things around me.
Here are Five Activities that I have included in my Daily and Monthly Routines to improve my Life
Decluttering
Culling all the things that don’t serve me anymore. Donating all the duplicates and stuff that are still in mint condition. Throwing away all things that are just garbage that have been sitting at the back of my cupboards and closets. I schedule this on a bi-weekly to a monthly basis, depending on what I need.
Starting the Day with an Intention Setting Meditation
This heart coherence meditation from Mel Schweder is my favorite from the Insight Timer app. I have been meditating with this for almost two years now, and it has helped me a lot in terms of being intentional with my goals, dreams, visions, and starting the day with a light heart.
Ending the Day with a Cleanse Meditation
An energy cleanse meditation like this one from Lalah Delia works wonders, especially when I have a very rough and stressful day at work. Calling back your power, releasing the energy and emotions that are not yours to look at and keep. When I started doing this practice, I noticed the benefit right away. I was able to get my mind off my work and move on with the rest of my day for my 6 – 10 pm duties (wife and dog parent duties, lol) and of course giving myself the timeout that I needed for the day.
